Volunteer for a petition drive to repeal a controversial law emergency managers of State collected more than 80% of the signatures required to put the issue before voters in November 2012, the Group's Stand Up for democracy, who led the effort, said on Friday.
This announcement came one day after Mayor Dave Bing said the city on the fast track to Bankruptcy and will likely need to be designated as the Manager of the State of emergency to avoid economic collapse.
The Group should gather at least 161,000 signatures from registered voters of Michigan. The group says it has at least 131,000 signature valid so far. Said to be hoping to have a rest by mid-December.
Stand Up for democracy say the legislation, signed by Governor Rick Snyder earlier this year, was unconstitutional because it leaves voters without a voice as elected officials to get rid of the designated emergency one with the Manger of the strength of the area to sell assets, remove the Union contract and cut services.
"The fiscal Crisis is no reason to put an end to democracy," a volunteer Amy Hardin across the city said.
